The SDI Divemaster Program is your gateway to becoming a respected dive professional and role model in the diving community.

This intensive, hands-on course develops your leadership, teaching, and advanced diving skills so you can confidently guide certified divers, assist instructors, and share your passion for the ocean with others.

 

During your training, you will:

  • Perfect your diving skills to professional-level standards

  • Learn to supervise dive activities and lead underwater tours

  • Assist in teaching and mentoring student divers

  • Manage dive operations and ensure diver safety

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of dive theory, equipment, and the marine environment

 

With real-world, on-the-job experience, you’ll graduate ready to work in dive shops, resorts, and liveaboards anywhere in the world — or simply take pride in being a highly skilled leader in your local dive community.

 

Prerequisites:

  • SDI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)

  • Current CPR/First Aid and Oxygen Administration certification

  • Minimum of 40 logged dives to start (60 required for certification)

  • Minimum age: 18

 

Duration: Varies based on schedule style

  • Intensive training: 10 -15 days 

  • Inclusive training: 3 - 6 weeks

  • Internship style: 6 -12 months

E-Learning

Start your SDI Divemaster eLearning course and master all the important academic information. You can complete this phase through self-study, at your own pace, in the convenience of your home or office. All eLearning courses work on mobile and tablet devices too.

Confined Water Dives

The next step will be to complete your in-water skill-development training. This takes place in a swimming pool or similar body of confined water, under the supervision of an SDI Instructor.

Open Water Dives

The final step is to complete the required number of training dives under the supervision of your SDI Instructor. Here you will apply what you have learned during your academic and skill-development sessions, while learning practical lessons that can only be gained through real-world experience in open water.

What's included:

  • Self-Paced E-Learning: Complete online modules at your own convenience before hands-on sessions.

  • Classroom Instruction: Overview of diving basics and safety, preparing you for in-water training.

  • Confined Water Session: Practice key skills in a confined water environment under the guidance of an instructor.

  • Open Water Dives: Put your skills to practice in the open water, building confidence and experience.

Schedule & Requirements 

Schedule will vary depending on training type. This will be communicated with you at time of purchase.
